Holy Week Schedule of Services 2018

  • A Message from Fr. Larry

    March 2018

Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,

“Repent and Believe In Jesus.” This is our Lenten theme that invites us to take a good look at how we are living our life, and the quality of our relationship with God and others during these 40 days. Through prayer, fasting and charitable giving we recognize the need to turn away from the sin and embrace God’s generous love that gives us new life.

Lent has the ability to “spiritually stretch us”, if we allow it to—especially if we open ourselves to the Holy Spirit. The author Annie Dillard in her book, Teaching a Stone to Talk, suggests that when we go to church that the ushers should hand us life-vests and signal flares, and lash us to the pews—because the power of God is so strong. If we invite God into our lives, there is bound to be change, and sometimes difficult change— but God’s glory will be in us. This is great news! Just think… if God’s love is so strong that it could raise Jesus from the dead, imagine what this love can do to us.

Soon our parish will begin our celebration of Holy Week. It is that sacred time of year when we trace the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Our Catholic Church is blessed by the special liturgies that beautifully express our faith. As we recall God's love that raised Jesus from the dead, we trust that God's love will continue to bring us new life and meaning today.

I hope that you and your family will be able to join us for our Holy Week services and Easter celebrations at Immaculate Conception and St. Joseph Parish. Our Reconciliation schedule, Holy Week services and Easter Sunday Mass schedule are all included in this mailing. Allow the Risen Lord to once again embrace you through our prayer, worship and song. We welcome you, and especially those who are new to our parishes and those who might be visiting us, during these holy days.

May our hearts be filled with the loving presence of Christ,

    Fr. Larry Lisowski
    Pastor, ICSJ Parish
