The Mass of the Resurrection for longtime ICSJ parishioner Russell Iacono will be celebrated Tuesday, October 6, at St. Joseph Church, with visitation at 10:00 a.m. followed by Mass at 11:00 a.m. Fr. Larry Lisowski will be the celebrant.

Throughout the Church, October is Respect Life Month, a time to remember the dignity of every human life. This weekend’s second collection supports Aid for Women, a local organization providing compassionate support and practical assistance to expectant and new mothers in need. Bring your pets for ICSJ’s Annual Pet Blessing, Friday, October 2, at 3:30 p.m. in the Immaculate Conception parking lot. In anticipation of the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, Fr. Larry will bless the pets who bring so much joy to our lives. Dogs, cats, birds—or whatever pet is part of your family—are welcome. All ICSJ parish and school families are invited!

The Knights of Columbus Tootsie Roll Drive returns September 26–27 at all ICSJ Masses, with donations supporting SPRED at ICSJ. We are saddened to share that longtime parishioner Russell Iacono passed away on Monday, August 31, after a long illness. Russ and his wife, Diana, were familiar faces at the 11:00 a.m. Mass at St. Joseph and generously donated the piano that continues to enrich our worship there. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, October 6 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Please keep Russ, Diana, and their family and friends in your prayers.

For many years, ICSJ’s KnitWits ministry has quietly created handmade blankets, hats, and other comfort items for children served by Children’s Place. Members gather to knit, crochet, share ideas, and enjoy fellowship while making a difference, one stitch at a time. Join us for our next gathering Monday, August 17, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the St. Joseph Community Room. New participants are always welcome. ICSJ School is hiring responsible junior and senior high school students to join our After School Care team beginning August 24. Assistants help supervise younger students, lead games and activities, support homework time, and create a safe, welcoming environment. Hours are 3:15–5:30 p.m. on weekdays, with flexible scheduling and a starting wage of $17.05/hour. Right now, three ICSJ parishioners in our neighborhood are unable to attend Mass and are looking for someone to bring them Holy Communion each week. If you have 30–60 minutes to visit one person on a regular basis, the ICSJ Ministry of Care provides all the training, guidance, and support you need—including the opportunity to shadow an experienced minister before making a commitment. ICSJ’s Annual Taco Fiesta is back! Mark your calendar and join us on Sunday, August 2, from 12:00–2:00 p.m., following the 11:00 a.m. Mass at St. Joseph. We’ll gather with our friends from our sharing parish, Mother of the Americas, for delicious tacos, refreshing margaritas, and a fun afternoon of fellowship.
