KnitWits Knitting Ministry

Knitting with a Purpose

KnitWits is an ICSJ parish ministry whose members knit and crochet baby blankets, hats, and other handmade comfort items for children served by Children’s Place Association, a Chicago organization that supports children and families in need. Through this long-standing partnership, these handmade items are shared with children in Children’s Place programs—offering warmth, comfort, and a meaningful expression of care.

A Welcoming Community

KnitWits gatherings at the parish are informal and friendly. Members bring their knitting or crocheting to work on their projects, share ideas and patterns, help one another with questions, and enjoy conversation while creating items for donation. Members continue their projects at home during the month and bring finished items to the group’s gatherings.

There are no formal lessons or requirements. Whether you are experienced or just getting started, you’ll find a supportive group where you can come when you can and knit with a purpose.
