CATECHETICAL SUNDAY
We joyfully celebrate Catechetical Sunday this weekend. We recognize and honor our teachers for the good work that they do.

At our 11:00 a.m. Mass this Sunday we will recognize, bless and give thanks for all those in our parish who have been designated to teach the Catholic faith. This includes the teachers in our Parish Grade School, our catechists in our Religious Education Program, in our SPRED program, in our OCIA program, along with those who prepare people for the sacraments. They have been called to give witnesses to the Gospel and dedicate themselves to the mission of Jesus.
As Christians, we are all called to live in service of God and others. Catechists live out this mission in a unique way by educating and mentoring.
By following Christ’s example, our catechists live out this year’s theme: “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me… to bring good news to the poor.” As Christ illuminated the minds and hearts of many while he was on Earth, he also continues to bring light and love to the world by working through our catechists.
On this Catechetical Sunday, let us also pray for parents. We are reminded that parents are the primary teachers of their children in faith, and we pray that they may joyfully fulfill this responsibility.
Parents need to be actively engaged in the education and Christian formation of their children. This is so important especially as we face the challenges of living in a very secular world.
Young parents need our support, and they need to see us living out our faith every day. We are all invited to give a powerful witness to our Catholic faith that will hopefully inspire our children. This can have a huge impact on their spiritual life for years to come.
